چکیده

It is known that in general, frozen equivalent (Linear Parameter-Varying) LPV models, i.e., LPV models which have the same input-output behavior for each constant scheduling signal, might exhibit different input-output behavior for non-constant scheduling signals. In this paper, we provide an analytic error bound on the difference between the inputoutput behaviors of two LPV models which are frozen equivalent. This error bound turns out to be a function of both the speed of the change of the scheduling signal and the discrepancy between the coherent bases of the two LPV models. In particular, the difference between the outputs of the two models can be made arbitrarily small by choosing a scheduling signal which changes slowly enough. An illustrative example is presented to show that the choice of the scheduling signal can reduce the difference between the input-output behaviors of frozenequivalent LPV models.

Structural properties of LPV to LFR transformation: minimality, input-output behavior and identifiability

In this paper, we introduce and study important properties of the transformation of Affine Linear ParameterVarying (ALPV) state-space representations into Linear Fractional Representations (LFR). More precisely, we show that (i) state minimal ALPV representations yield minimal LFRs, and vice versa, (ii) the input-output behavior of the ALPV represention determines uniquely the input-output beha...

Linear Parameter Varying System Identification: State-Space Approaches

Presently, linear parameter varying (LPV) systems are broadly used in a wide range of applications such as in aerospace, energy, health, mechatronics, process control, computational systems, etc. Essentially, an LPV system is a linear system whose parameters are functions of a scheduling signal. It can be described by state-space or input/output models, in continuous or discrete-time. The incre...

A Kernel-based Approach to MIMO LPV State-space Identification and Application to a Nonlinear Process System ?

This paper first describes the development of a nonparametric identification method for linear parameter-varying (LPV) state-space models and then applies it to a nonlinear process system. The proposed method uses kernel-based least-squares support vector machines (LS-SVM). While parametric identification methods require proper selection of basis functions in order to avoid overparametrization ...

Comparison of LPV and nonlinear system theory: A realization problem

The paper explores the utilization of the nonlinear realization theory to address the problem of transforming linear parameter-varying input-output (LPV-IO) equations into a state-space form with static dependence on the so-called scheduling parameter. The necessary and sufficient solvability conditions are given, and three additional subclasses of LPV-IO equations are suggested that are guaran...

Crucial Aspects of Zero-Order Hold LPV State-Space System Discretization

In the framework of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) systems, controllers are commonly designed in continuous-time, but implemented on digital hardware. Additionally, LPV system identification is formulated exclusively in discrete-time, needing structural information about the plant, which is often provided by first principle continuous-time models. These imply that LPV system discretization is a...
